New Additions and Twins Galore!

I'm literally so exceptionally enthusiastic about the topic of today’s post! There’s been birthdays and new additions in the Davis family, with twins everywhere! I couldn't be happier right now and I've been itching to write this one, although it’s considerably distant from the fashion and beauty world.

Firstly, Birthdays! Three years have already gone by since my beautiful Echo and Eden graced the world and my life with their angelic presence. I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone, it feels like only yesterday when they were so incredibly tiny, since they had their own babies six months later and just everything else collectively. I cherish every last moment of which I've spent with them, although the time has passed by at such an alarming speed, one of which makes me feel especially uncomfortable. I don’t want to ever be without them and knowing that I’ll have to someday means that I’d like to discover a way in which to slow time down substantially or pause it entirely! Saying all of this about ‘pets’ may seem a little overboard to some, however those of which know me will realise just how much my fur babies really do mean to me. They’re not simply ‘just a pet’, they’re a part of my family and are, in my mind, my children. There’s nothing that I wouldn't do for any of them, they mean the world and more to me and definitely light my life up to an unfathomable degree.

Looking back at old baby pictures of both Echo and Eden is surreal, watching them grow day in and day out means not typically noticing all of the changes as they advance, exploring the pictures is when realisation dawned on me of just how much they have changed, how larger they both are, where have my tiny babies gone? I fall in love with them over and over again each day, they make me continually proud and bring me joy and happiness in abundance. Their birthday were on Tuesday (19th) and due to the slight tinge of sadness at them getting older, I celebrated in a way that changed and expanded the family!

Yes that’s right, another twin set! I've been bonding a little on every visit to my local pet shop, with two adorable little African Spiny Mice! They were born on November 11th last year and have been in the pet shop for some time now. I felt so bad for them being there for so long and I have zero ideas on why they haven’t been snapped up yet because they’re the cutest little cherubs full of fun! They would have become a part of the family a lot sooner although there were nowhere to keep them in the house, I'm a little over run as it is! My Mom were finally worn down however and said on Tuesday that if I could find a place for them, then I had free reign to bring them home. This meant I were on a mission, I simply HAD to find a space somehow, therefore I created one out of thin air! It weren't long before I were back at the pet shop, buying a new cage to set up at home, before popping back down for my little boys. They’re so fast, bombing around chasing one another, as quick as lightning. These two bundles of energy were up to mischief constantly after bringing them home, checking everything out and being extremely inquisitive, playing with one another and looking for attention from their Mommy, of course I were only too happy to oblige. I still can’t take my eyes off of them and it has somehow made my feelings grow for ALL of my babies. The Davis house somehow feels much more complete with the latest additions. Chase and Chance fit in around here instantly and I've most definitely fallen in love yet again. They’re the cheekiest little guys and bringing them home certainly took a little of the edge away from the fact that my biggest babies are growing up.

Positively Pets!

Fur Babies

Today is a day for pets, although not a post focused on pet care. Instead I just want to appreciate my own little bundles of absolute joy!

Due to a recent poor quality of weather here in the UK, my Mom decided that my beloved Echo and Eden (rabbits) could come back inside until it dissipated. I’m oh so incredibly thankful for this occurrence, as the wind were driving my anxiety levels to be sky high due to the worry that the hutch wouldn’t stay in place and I would find them no longer there on a morning. My sleeping pattern is already dire however this were just making things so much worse for me. I were constantly getting out of bed to look through my window, checking their safety and ensuring their cover were still protecting them. If the cover had come off I’d be climbing out of my bedroom window in the early hours of the morning to rectify the issue.. I were getting barely any sleep and becoming a wreck. Every time I heard the wind outside I would be in a panic, hoping that it weren’t effecting my little angels in any way. Although having them back inside obviously has caused a little chaos of it’s own, I’m so relieved. Already I’ve been able to get to sleep easier on a night and my quality of sleep has improved vastly! I no longer panic when I hear the wind as I know that my babies are safe inside.

Update time over, this now means that I get to spend a lot more quality time with all of my pets because they’re all in the living room with me, which is where I spend 90% of my time when I’m at home. I turn around and they’re there, I’m able to constantly communicate with them all. I love this so much, it’s made me happier in myself. My pets give me a feeling of purpose, knowing that there’s three little fur babies that all need me, they’re dependent on me. It’s a wonderful feeling, even more so knowing that I know all there is to know about each of them; what scares them, what makes them happy, everything. My little cherubs are my greatest pleasure in life, aside from my Mom. Their delightful little faces are uplifting, they make me happy and fill me with joy. I feel motivated because of them, knowing that the harder I work the more I can treat them all to nice new toys and additional things to make them happy. Due to the pure positivity they bring to my life, I thought it would be only fair that I dedicate to them, their very own blog post – aside from any pet care tips and tricks and such. So here’s to Echo, Eden and Jeremiah!

Jeremiah Ross Davis

Starting with Jeremiah, he’s the youngest of my three, not even a year old.. He’s incredibly adorable and melts my heart every time I set my eyes upon him. He’s the most sociable hamster I’ve ever known, always wanting a chat and social interaction with myself and my Mom. He gets really excited when socializing and appreciates any attention he’s given. Usually when a hamster is tired they’ll be incredibly cranky but not this little guy, he’s always happy to see people at any time of the day. He were so easy to tame and settled into his new home so well – I’ve had absolutely no problems with him at all. He’s such a well behaved little boy and I couldn’t be happier that he’s in my care. It feels just right that he should be a part of this family. He acts incredibly silly sometimes of course, as is only appropriate for this mad house. I’m excited to soon be spoiling him on his first Christmas with us!

Echo is my little girl, she’s a pampered princess. She’s smaller than Eden but is a fat little chunk. She’s the protector of the two, the one of which guards their home and tries to scare off any threats. She were also a perfect Mother to her and Eden’s four little fluffy pompoms. She cared for them perfectly and did so well keeping all four healthy and happy until they went to their new home. At only six months old herself when she had them, I were so incredibly proud of her! I couldn’t have asked for her to have done any better. I sure as hell didn’t have a clue what I were doing during the extremely unexpected situation. I had been told Eden were a girl too, so to find that Echo had then had babies one morning were an incredible shock, saying that however is a huge understatement. She’s the greediest of the two and is usually the boss!

Eden is a massive softie, he’s spoilt, shy and a massive scaredy cat! He likes to spend the majority of his time sleeping but is also incredibly playful and gets excited over nice treats and new toys, although he’s apprehensive of anything at first! For the first six months of his life he were thought to be a girl, so I guess it’s no huge surprise that he’s such a huge Nancy! He hates visits to the vets and refuses to leave my side, last time they both cannon balled towards me – Eden almost knocking me over because he’s so huge and heavy! He’s such a big boy, it’s literally like carrying a child when I pick him up, he gives such cuddly snuggles though because he’s so large and fluffy. Echo is much more inquisitive and nosy at the vets and likes to play with the blinds! She’s also a 100% diva, making it clear what she wants and when she wants it.. If she wants the door to the indoor cage open then that door WILL be opened and she will trot around the living room doing whatever she pleases. She always gets the last word.

They make me so incredibly happy, I’ve experienced so many laughs with the both of them, I’ve been so extremely proud of them and they fill my life with happiness. There’s nothing that I wouldn’t do for them, for all of them. They all have their own distinct personalities, each one as precious. Jeremiah is social and loves getting to know everybody, whereas the rabbits are more skeptical and will choose who they like and dislike. If they like someone it’s a great indication that the person in question is decent, whereas the people they don’t like tends to be for a very good reason, such as them not being the most desirable example of human. The rabbits are a very good judge of character, which gives much more amusement for the fact that they don’t take to males very well at all!

Don’t Fall out with Autumn!

As I’m sure everyone is aware by now (if not, then you’re probably arriving late for work and appointments tehehe) the clocks have changed, meaning that us Brits have gone back to GMT from BST, reminding us of the fact that we’re back in the Autumn and Winter months. Days will grow colder and shorter and for many their moods will wilt along with nature. It doesn’t have to be seen as a negative, however! With Autumn comes some fantastic annual holidays such as Halloween and Christmas, full of love, togetherness and cheer. Lots of good grub, crackling fires, seasonal drinks, conkers, crunchy leaves and a different view of the enchanting nature around us is now in abundance. It can be easy to want to stay wrapped up in our covers and let the world pass by around us but if you get nicely wrapped up, then the world outside of our bedroom is just as enticing. During an often mundane Monday I have today been embarking on a few simple yet uplifting projects to kickstart my motivation and brighten my surroundings.

Creative Claws
First things first my nails needed some TLC and as my workplace is about to have a refurbishment I felt this were the perfect opportunity for a little creativity on my claws. I don’t know what it is about false nails or nail art but I always find that I somehow feel a little better in myself when they’re groomed and looking lovely, do you feel that way too? I opted for a standard plastic false nail rather than acrylic or something to the same effect as I won’t be away from work long enough to have warranted having acrylics, it’s done the same job however but will prove easier to remove when I need to do so.

I found a pack of old nails yet to be used up in a pack, the pattern weren’t to my taste so I decided I would create something on them myself. They may not look like anything spectacular to some but I’m happy with them and they’ve had the desired effect of making me feel a little more put together somehow. When it comes to painting my nails I’m dreadful, therefore I chose to paint the nail before gluing them on, leaving the glitter varnish and top coat for last, below are the exact products I used. I will be doing my first set of acrylics on my Mom sometime in the coming days/weeks, if anybody has any cool ideas they’d like to share for inspiration then please feel free to do so, I’d like my Mom to be spoilt for choice!

More Nails – DIY version
Second on my self motivation quest I decided to get to work on some hutch improvements for my beloved Echo and Eden. I always use a tarpaulin cover for their hutch on a night for use as weather protection and as a little hide away from potential predators. If you have read my previous post on rabbit care then you’ll know I’ve been having a spot of bother from foxes of recent. What I’ve done today by no means will protect them from having their hutch knocked over, or will prevent foxes and other predators from attempting to break into their hutch. It will however give me a little in the means of peace of mind whilst weather protecting them.

What I’ve done is simple, I decided to get some spare tarpaulin, chopped it down to size and have tacked it to the hutch around the sides and back, also to the top of their downstairs run area. I will still cover them over with the main tarpaulin piece on a night in order to cover the front, however it provides some protection to the back and sides and added insulation for their home. This is a temporary measure until I’m able to get them moved into my shed. They already seem rather happy with the change and it’s something that took next to no time at all, well worth it I’d say for the happiness of my fur babies and my equilibrium. This has also covered over a side doorway, further adding to my relief.

Making a House a Home
Last but not least I have added some bits and pieces to my bedroom wall, this has been a work in progress for a matter of months where I have been adding things as I find them, such as the odd photograph of college memories or my childhood, along with festival posters and gig tickets. I moved into my current home five years ago in January and I decided rather than decorating my room, to just add bits wherever I felt the need. I love this idea as it gives me the sense of belonging and that my bedroom is my own personal space for the extension of myself. When I’m having moments where I feel a little under the surface I can look at my wall even from the comfort of my own bed sheets and will be reminded of experiences or obstacles I’ve overcome. This is something so simple and to many probably seemingly insignificant but for me it’s that little thing that I often need, reminding me I’m alive and to give me the little push I need to go out into the world and make more amazing memories to surround myself with.

For some of us it can often be a mammoth task in itself just to be able to leave our bed for whatever reason, maybe there’s a huge trauma in a person’s life at that moment, or it could be the symptoms from mental illness. Whatever the reason is I feel it’s important to have constant reminders, especially at these times, that our lives have had great times thrown in there, that whatever you’re currently facing you CAN get past it and you are capable of creating lasting happy memories with the people in your life who you love and who love you back. Sometimes it may prove too hard for you to leave your room and that’s okay, another day is round the corner, nothing ever lasts forever, the good or the bad. Having gentle reminders though, in what I feel is the most important and influential of the rooms in a home, is a fantastic way to subtly provide a personal aid to help see past the dark. If you wake in somewhere inviting, filled with vibrancy and life then it will instantly aid to improve your mood even in the smallest of ways. My constant adding to my memory walls I feel is an appropriate link to the notion that life goes on and is forever changing, every day is a new opportunity to add value to everything you have, another chance to learn, grow and be captivated by the hidden joys of life.
