We’re Going Through Changes!

Lots of changes. The month of March will be a month of madness indeed, continue reading this post to learn of the exciting and particularly busy times ahead!

1. Disaster Davis is moving to Blogger!
I should have probably gone with Blogger to start with although had I done that, then I’d have not befriended my lovely WordPress blogging friends! I feel that there’s a greater scope for communicating with other’s via Blogger, what with most people having a Google+ account, whereas on WordPress it’s much more limited in terms of communicating with other’s and getting feedback. Disaster Davis will however still be available on WordPress, I’ll instead have two platforms with the same content being posted. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this change! Meanwhile, head on over to Disaster Davis on Blogger at disasterdavis.blogspot.co.uk, take a look around. It’s very much still under construction as I have only started work on it today, it will be business as usual in time for my Monday upload but for now is a game of playing catch up with my previous posts!

2. Did I hear YouTube?
Yeah you are reading the above correctly. I’ve been toying with the idea now for some time, to start up a YouTube Channel as an extention of my blog. I know a few of my other blogging buddies are planning on also starting YouTube or have already dipped their feet in, it seems like such an exciting and fun change. I will still be keeping my blog and Disaster Davis will remain the main priority. If there’s anything you’d like to watch in particular then please leave me any suggestions you have, until then, watch this space!

3. I have a new job!
Taking more of a personal turn here, on Monday I handed in my notice at my job – I also have a new one! I already feel so much better about this change, the people I’ll be working with are absolutely lovely and I feel I’m going to fit in well. This isn’t the time or place to state my reasons for leaving my previous job but lets just leave it at the fact I were incredibly unhappy. Not only do I have a great feeling about my new job but it’s also got so many more positives to it and will also free up a little more time for me to embark on other endeavours!

4. Watch this space – new adventures in the pipeline!
Speaking of new endeavours, this is another personal change. Without going into too much detail and giving too much information away, I have decided that I’m going to try out a few different things. I’m really excited about these changes and can’t wait to get started on my plans. Life is filled with so much possibility for myself right now, I couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome new adventures and experiences into my life and I will be sure to update you on these new additions to my life in time.

5. Mother’s Day!
I can’t forget that it’s Mother’s Day around the corner, can I? I hope you all have some epic plan in place to spoil and cherish your mother’s, they’re truely precious beings and you only get one! I’m personally so excited for Sunday and spending lots of quality time with my Mom once I have gotten work out of the way. I wonder if my fur babies have got me anything this year.. Hmm. How are you celebrating the day?

Beauty Blogger

I’m aware that I’ve posted quite an amount of Q&A’s/Tag posts recently, I do hope they aren’t boring for you, although due to things being so crazily busy for me right now I figured that today would be a great time for another one. A good friend of mine tagged me in this on Facebook and what is a better way of completing it, than by blogging this rather than clogging up my Facebook news feed! I were intending for today to be a requested post regarding my recent weight loss, I’d rather give it a little more time though. I hope you will continue reading and get to know me a little more.

1. Are you single?
Indeed I am.

2. Are you crushing on anyone?
Can’t say I am, no.

3. What is your favourite food?
TOO MUCH CHOICE! It constantly changes depending on what I’ve consumed or not recently, at the moment I’m obsessed with chocolate and cookies.

4. What’s your favourite colour?
Purple, for now.

5. Which music genre is your favourite?
I enjoy many but rock is my preferred choice.

6. What is your favourite band/artist?
The Calling/Alex Band, Blink-182, Arctic Monkeys

7. Do you have any talents?
Hmm, I’m not very good at picking up on my own talents. You’d be better asking other people, maybe that’s something that could be discussed in the comments? I’d like to think that I portray talent within my writing.

8. Are you in love?
Not currently, thankfully.

9. What are your hobbies?
Reading, writing, crafts, drawing, sewing, swimming, gym, gaming, blogging, machinima, music, singing, ice skating, bowling, playing pool and I’m probably missing some.

10. Are you a gamer?
Very much so, mostly a Sims addict but I’ll play anything and on any device. I love retro games and actually use my PS1 the most, aside from my laptop and phone.

11. Are you swag/emo/scene?
I’m merely myself, I were stereotyped as emo in my high school days, though.

12. Do you have long or short hair?
Long, I’ve been growing it for a while after getting it cut into some type of pixie cut in June 2011.

13. What is your height?
5 foot 4 inch, approximately.

14. Which do you prefer, jacket or hoodie?
It depends on the outfit but I use hoodies to keep warm inside as well as to wear when leaving the house.

15. What is your eye colour?
Brown.

16. What is your hair colour?
Also brown, really dark though. I were also born with a blonde streak in my hair which is my birth mark. It’s got darker throughout the years though and is now more visible in the summer months.

17. What is the colour of the shirt you’re currently wearing?
I’m wearing my PJ top, it’s gunmetal grey and coral – you can view it on my post ‘Money = Shopping, Shopping = Happiness’.

18. Do you prefer jeans or shorts?
Either, again it depends on the rest of the outfit. The weather and temperature has a lot to do with preference, too. I probably prefer wearing shorts purely because I find jeans can often feel rather uncomfortable.

19. Do you want to get married?
This is something that surprises and sometimes angers people to find out, but no.

20. Do you want to have kids?
Yeah, loads of the angelic gremlins!

21. Would you get divorced?
I don’t intend on getting married but if I were to do so then I’d want that to be a lifelong thing, isn’t that the whole point of marriage?

22. Have you ever or still do wet the bed?
I have done as a child, one of the drawbacks of growing up with delusional nut jobs in the family and being bullied pretty much 24/7, fun times.

23. Have you had or currently have depression?
I suffer from depression and anxiety, I have done since childhood.

24. Do you daydream?
Almost constantly, I often zone out when I’m supposed to be focusing on something else. If I have nothing of which needs my immediate attention then I drift off a considerable amount more.

25. How often do you have thoughts of food?
99.9% of the time. I love food, it’s the best creation, ever. This is non disputable.

26. Name someone you love?
I could write you a huge list! Lets keep it simple though and leave it at my Mom, Echo, Eden and Jeremiah.

27. Name someone you hate?
There’s an incredibly thin line between love and hate. I don’t hate anybody, if there’s someone that I dislike then that’s as far as it would go, why have so much feeling for a person who isn’t important?

28. What is your dream job?
Oh this one is easy – author.

29. Do you have tattoos?
Not yet but I should be getting my first later this year.

30. Do you have piercings?
Indeed I do. My ears, belly button and lip.

31. What were the worst day of your life?
There’s an epic list of contenders for this but I’ll go with the day my Granny died. Ten years in September and things have never been the same.

32. What were the best day of your life?
I’m not sure that I can say what the best day of my life is, I’m going to choose the weekend I spent in Manchester with friends, though. The first day myself, Sophie and Emma went for spray tans then got picked up by our friend Becca, who then took us to a hotel we had booked in Manchester. We left our stuff there then went out and did some shopping at the Trafford Centre until later in the night. After getting dropped back off at the hotel the three of us hung out and had an early night for the next day when we went to X-Factor auditions at Old Trafford. We spent all day there, making new friends and having fun, before making our way back home to Leeds and finishing off the epic weekend with drinks at Emma’s house, with more of our friends. We were younger then and I’d felt so free and void of worries, it were perfection.

33. What is your biggest fear?
The obvious – losing my Mom.

34. What is your worst habbit?
Probably my self-abhorrence.

I Solemnly Swear that I am up to No Good!

Asda

Uh oh. I may be developing an obsession for shopping again! In the past week or so I have been to my local Asda store on another book binge, as well as having a mini spending spree with my friend, Riley, last week. If you wish to uncover the magic within this haul then simply grab a butterbeer and fly further into the post!

Asda
First up is Asda, this includes both my local store and the larger store of which I visited with Riley. I thoroughly enjoyed leisurely wandering through the larger store as there is of course much more space and numerous items stocked, therefore resulting in a considerably broader scope for choice. Obviously a paperback blowout had to occur, though I did manage to reign myself in long enough to purchase other assets also!

Lindt Limited Edition Strawberries and Cream – £3.50
My favourite chocolate brand, with Valentine’s Day being yesterday I just HAD to get myself some of these beauties, I of course picked up a second box also, as a little Valentine’s treat for my Mom. I could have never let a limited edition Lindt go without sampling it first! Since I’m celebrating Valentine’s Day with my Mom today, I will be sampling these in the evening during a Bridget Jones and take away binge, I can’t contain my elation!

PJ Bottoms – £6
These are quite possibly the fluffiest and cuddliest pyjama bottoms I have ever felt, I’m entirely smitten with these. Not only are they incredibly comfortable but have you seen how pretty they are? These can be purchased online in a different length leg, I find this to be really helpful for those of which are taller than me, although these are just right for my short ass!

Primark
Riley and I made a ‘quick’ stop off at Primark, despite the fact the poor lad hates the place. He surely loves me for putting him through this form of personal torture time and time again. I’ve almost ran out of my P.S, Love under eye concealer, therefore only wanted to pop in and out briskly with the intention of purchasing a new one. Unfortunately they only had them in the shade ‘tan’ which is far too dark for the under eye area in my opinion, and is generally way too dark for my face at the minute – we’re still in winter after all! I were disappointed that there were no ivory shade but I instead spent my money on a collection of other items!

Playsuit – £5
I adore these types of playsuits and find myself buying more in a range of patterns every year. Primark always do them and they fit perfectly, they’re loose enough to provide space and breeziness for warm, summer weather, whilst cinching in at the waist to add shape. The material is very lightweight which as I say, is perfect for the more pleasurable weather!

Joggers – £9
These are super comfortable, just like my other recent pairs. These are also a unique colour which I adore (the picture has unfortunately not brought the correct colour out, they are a green tinted turquoise) and have “Brooklyn New York” printed vertically on the left leg. As anyone that knows me (or reads my blog) will already be aware, anything American I happen to adore, harbouring a particular fascination with Brooklyn.

Workout Vest – £5
Due to continuing with my recent health kick, so far, I figured I were allowed a treat directly pertaining to the current weight loss. Whilst this vest is the perfect example of the achievements and hard work, it’s also made from a lightweight and airy material and is in a colour I happen to appreciate. This simply had to come home with me. The slogan “excuses don’t burn calories” is a simple yet productive and motivational reminder to stick to my plan and continue seeing results from doing so. This vest is appropriate for being used for both general use and workouts.

Elephant Tee – £6
Another obsession is of course elephants and the colour of this tee is distinct whilst being a colour I don’t already own. In general I find this tee to be attractive to the eye, I love this and it were evidently affordable. There will be sufficient use from this tee.

Hogwarts Pyjamas – £7
What is not to love about these? They’re maybe a little inadequate in relation to the weather at this current moment, depending of course on a different person’s home and heating levels. Regardless they’re perfect for the summer and they’re quite frankly, adorable. I had to have them as soon as I saw them. They’re a mixture between pyjamas and underwear, providing ample space and movement. These days Primark tend to merchandise PJs separately ,which can be a huge pain when you consider the prices added up. These were together though, being a slight shock in itself, especially when added to the fact that it’s Harry Potter. It were a welcome discovery indeed.

Hogwarts Socks Pack of 3 – £2.50
Yes, more Harry Potter – and I love it! I don’t have much to say on these aside from the fact they’re awesome, there’s three lots of them, they’re standard length, Harry Potter themed and did I mention awesome?

Albus Dumbledore Quote Tee – £7
I’m smitten with this for so many reasons. Firstly it’s again, Harry Potter themed, and Albus is epic. Secondly it’s made in my current favourite colour and thirdly, the quote from Albus is incredible. It’s 99% definite that it’s my all time, preferred HP quote, it’s both profound and inspirational.

USB Powerbank Keyring – £6
A very practical purchase! I constantly find my phone dying on me right at the most crucial times. A while ago Riley suggested that I invest in a powerbank, he has one and he told me all about it, it sounded pretty good. The thing is, I’m hopeless when it comes to remembering things, I of course kept forgetting to search online for one. When discovering this by chance in Primark it were obvious that I needed to buy it. I think it’s probably a rather lame thing for me to say, but I’m actually excited to use this. For those of who are reading about one of these for the first time, this particular one will apparently work with any camera or phone that has a USB port, Riley has said that his powerbank typically gives him around 50% charge though this probably depends largely on which device is being charged, also the health of the battery initially. These are simple to use, the powerbank firstly needs charging, using the USB method, this could either be via another device, such as a laptop, or through a usb connector plugged into an electrical socket. Once it’s been fully charged you are then able to use this to charge your device and all that needs to be done is to connect the powerbank to your phone/camera also via the usb cable. Simple and effective. All I need to do now is remember to take my usb cable and powerbank with me literally everywhere.

Boots
As a result of Primark failing to have the shade ‘Ivory’ in the P.S, Love under eye concealer, I of course needed to then take a quick trip elsewhere. I remembered that a number of people have had a fantastic experience of using the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, therefore presenting me with an ideal opportunity to test this out for myself. With that, I headed straight towards the nearest Boots with the intention of seeking out Collection. Unfortunately I can’t remember the prices of these items and have been unable to detect my receipt, they were however nice and cheap. There may have been offers on, too. Considering that I’ll be providing a review of these items at a later date, I will simply list the products, for now.

Brew and Biscuits

Hey! I had originally planned something different for today’s post but because of some very big changes this week I’ve simply not had the time to commit to my posts, unfortunately. It would crush me to have to miss a post, therefore I thought I’d do a little tag post today enabling you to get to know me a little more. I’d been planning on doing this a little later in the month anyway, as I realised I have been blogging now for four months yet have given away very little about myself. I love to read other people’s get to know me tags, after reading a blog for a while you start to feel as though you know the person behind it therefore, it seems only right that you should actually get to know more about THEM rather than simply their favourite make-up brands etc. To learn the dirt on me, grab a brew and some biscuits, get comfortable and continue reading.

1. Do you have a middle name?
Indeed I do, it’s Leigh.

2. What was your favourite subject in school?
Drama, without a doubt.

3. What’s your favourite drink?
It’s probably tea. For me there’s nothing more relaxing than getting snug in my pjs, with a brew, some chocolate and a good book. Bliss! (I drink Tetley’s, just for a little added information there.)

4. What’s your favourite song at the moment?
Arghh I have way too many, I wouldn’t even know where to start. Is this question some kind of a sick joke? I’ve been listening to Muse a lot again recently, lets go with Time Is Running Out. My favourites change depending on my mood though, too. This really is an impossible question.

5. What would you name your children?
I actually already have so many names planned out, I have had since I were around 16 years old. I really liked Scarlet-Lorraine, but friend’s of mine recently named their little girl Scarlet. I love names which aren’t heard often. Although I really like the boys name Darren. I love the name Davis used as a first name for either a boy or a girl, but, yeah. I can’t go with that for obvious reasons.

6. Do you participate in any sports?
I used to play badminton recreationally. I no longer play any sport, I keep active by going swimming and for walks instead.

7. What’s your favourite book?
Another impossible question!! I could write a book simply listing my favourites. I’ll narrow it down to three, and believe me, this is hard enough. The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks, The Host by Stephenie Meyer and Me Before You by Jojo Moyes.

8. What’s your favourite colour?
This constantly changes, too. At the minute I adore burgundy.

9. What’s your favourite animal?
I love every animal, I’ll have to go with elephants and rabbits, though. I’m not doing very well at just picking one, am I?

10. What’s your favourite perfume?
Vivienne Westwood – Let It Rock

11. What’s your favourite holiday?
My travels are rather limited, but from the places I’ve been to I have to say Ibiza.

12. Have you graduated from High School?
Indeed, I left High School in 2008. *Gulp* that makes me feel very old all of a sudden.

13. Have you been out of the country?
Yes I have, I’ve been to Scotland, Ibiza and Tenerife.

14. Do you speak any other languages?
I used to speak German as I learnt it at school, I’ve picked up little bits of both French and Spanish over the years, not enough to listen to or take part in a conversation, though. Does fluent alien-cyborg count?

15. Do you have any siblings?
I have a half brother and sister who are both older than me. Although it’s their father’s children of which I’m closer to and consider to be my siblings. With this in mind I have another older brother, a younger brother and a younger sister.

16. What’s your favourite store?
Probably Primark! I can always find something I love in there, from clothing to cosmetics, nightwear to underwear – it has everything I need under one roof. They maintain fast product rotation ensuring that they always stay relevant in the fashion world.

17. What’s your favourite restaurant?
I don’t tend to eat out much but I’ll say either Toby’s Carvery or Red Hot Buffet.

18. Do you like school?
I hated it with a passion. It were the best thing to ever happen, finally escaping it’s vice like clutches.

19. Who are some of your favourite YouTubers?
Sprinkle of Glitter and Shaaanxo

20. What’s your favourite movie?
Casper. Followed extremely close by The Notebook.

21. What are some of your favourite TV shows?
Now I get offered multiple choices when I actually have a singular answer. Emmerdale. Since I can say more though, I’ll go also with Coronation Street, Teen Mom and Escape to the Country (this includes other’s like it.)

22. PC or Mac?
PC.

23. What phone do you have?
HTC One M8 in Gunmetal Grey

24. How tall are you?
I’m only short, 5‘4.

25. Any pets?
I have a Syrian hamster named Jeremiah and two rabbits named Echo and Eden. They are my world, my pride and joy. Hopefully a dog will be added to my collection in a few months time.

All The Lovin’

Hi all, just a quick post for two reasons….

Firstly a massive thank you to those of which have taken the time out of their day to have a little look at this here blog, also to those of you who have given me a lovely little follow either here or on any of my social media profiles. People who have interacted with me in some way, too. It honestly does mean the world to me, every time I notice even the smallest of change (such as a new view, recurring views etc), even better when there’s a follow or two involved. I started blogging because it’s something I enjoy and I’ve been going for over a month now, which is actually rather astounding for me personally, it gives me so much more pleasure with lovely people involved though. I’d absolutely love it if you’d like to get chatty, this is a massive source of happiness and inspiration for me right now, I’m loving every minute of it and I’d love it even more with like-minded people to chat to who share the same interests as me. Generating friends via this medium would be the icing on a very tasty cake indeed! Just look at my smile, the fact I’m even smiling on a photo is somewhat an achievement – well done for doing this to me!

Secondly, following with the theme of lovin’, I have set up a BlogLovin’ account and would love it (so much love in this post) if you amazing people could also follow me on there! I’ll check out your blogs too, it would be great for everybody involved! Disaster Davis Strikes Again!!

Amusing Stories

Welcome all to my crazy little corner of the internet! You may call me Davis, I’m a twenty something year old from the not so sunny UK! I decided I’d jump into the realm of blogging amidst the insane amount of already really talented bloggers out there for a few reasons, such as;

I love writing, I’m always doing it and I wanted a neat little space for this creative outlet.
I will be blogging about things that excite and inspire me, either things I would love to learn more about in the process of blogging or things I have partial or vast first hand experience in, therefore I’m wanting to both learn from others and help concurrently.
Additional to the previous point, I would love to communicate with and potentially make friends with like minded people within the community!

With that covered, what will we find on my blog I hear you yell?! I’ll admit, it will probably arrive at the point where it seems I’ll have too much varying content on here to pin-point to a specific niche. Fashion, beauty and lifestyle will no doubt be the most widely recognised description, although I will be often including pet care (I currently am the proud Mother to three fur babies, two rabbits and a Syrian hamster), book reviews and crafty bits or self improvement ventures!

I have had a small blog previously which I were unable to get off of the ground, purely due to the fact of my intense fear of posting anything or not being ‘good enough’! I have however been working on lots of things personal to me for some time since and without further a-do I am back and Disaster Davis Strikes Again!!!

So I may have had an unfortunate experience of the most mortifying and dire levels. I’ve been talking to a guy for a while via a social media application, everything were just peachy and what not. One evening I am relaxing on the sofa in my living room aimlessly scrolling through different apps on my phone such as Instagram and Facebook, you know the drill. Whilst on Twitter I partook in what I call a ‘profile hop’ where I wander around the site checking in on friends and such, seeing what they’ve been getting up to recently and generally being nosey! We all do it, right? I don’t know about you but I constantly do this when I get bored and it’s late at night/early morning, I find old work or school friends and people I used to spend lots of time with so it’s just natural to have a little look, so seeing an old school friend I did just that. Whilst on there I noticed the profile of the guy I had been speaking to, you can guess how it goes… Yes, I just HAD to have a little peek to see if it were actually him, those profile icons can be small and poorly pixelated!

I hear you thinking, well that isn’t so bad. I agree completely, it’s what happens next which sent me running for the horizon! I barely looked at anything, it were a casual profile hop with nothing bad or creepy about it, we literally ALL do this, I don’t care how many of you would like to protest, we do.. It’s as if it’s basic human nature that’s been programmed into each of us and social media sites make it all so easy to do! I put my phone down with the intention of doing something else, my phone didn’t like that however. Oh no, not one bit. The devious sly little scrote decided it were the ideal time to play mind games with me and go on a full power trip – it favourited a tweet of his!!! It actually did that, I panicked so bad! I mean, obviously he’d see that in the notifications and likely think of me as a full blown creepy stalker or something, right? I’m an anxious person – I always think of these elaborate things first and in this instance I took the appropriate over blown actions, too! Rather than stopping at just un-favouriting the post, I assumed that Twitter would have told him about the situation regardless, therefore with this notion I decided that the only logical thing to do would be to completely remove my Twitter account in a mad panic!

It’s laughable, really.. Especially as after all of that, I decided to use the whole thing as a conversation starter the next time we spoke anyway, with the hope that I could put it across that I’m not some deranged psychopath and to then reinstate my profile afterwards. The absolute icing on the cake is the fact Twitter never even sent him the standard e-mail regarding someone favouriting his post. I could have gotten away with it all along. Typical! I have definitely learned from this to never trust my phone if I put it down when doing some top secret social stalking, or to maybe lessen up on the profile hopping thing when bored, I’ll maybe paint my nails or something instead!

So that’s all for now, you can all expect two posts a week from me which will be on a Monday and Thursday. I really hope that my name sake disaster situation has proven a warning sign for those sneaky social media stalking tendencies we all partake in from time to time, so that the rest of you don’t have to go through the same Twitter delete panic that I endured, it would also be really nice to think that my first post has been enjoyed by somebody!
